Teacher Training

Gyrotonic® Ann Arbor and The Movement Center offers training and certification courses for:

  • Gyrotonic® education
  • Gyrokinesis® education
  • STOTT Pilates (through Equilibrium Center)

Please contact us if you have any questions about the training and certification process. We'll be happy to discuss with you what to expect from the courses and what your options could be for your movement career.

Gyrotonic® or Gyrokinesis® Certification

  1. Start by taking lessons to gain experience and prepare you for the training process.
  2. Take the Gyrotonic® or Gyrokinesis® Pre-training Course, which prepares and qualifies you for the Foundation Course. In this course you learn and clarify the material for your own body.
  3. After your pre-training course, you have three months to begin your Gyrotonic or Gyrokinesis® Foundation Course. In this course you learn the skills needed to teach the work to clients, including hands on assists and verbal cueing.
  4. Once you have successfully completed your Foundation Course, you begin your Apprentice Period, which you can take a year to complete. You will begin teaching clients and during this time you will meet again with your Master Trainer for an Apprentice Hours Course to clarify material and address any questions that may arise during your experience working with clients.
  5. Once you have completed these requirements, you will take your Gyrotonic Certification Course. This is a workshop in which you further refine your teaching skills.

Private Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® Pre-trainings may also be arranged, or we can discuss setting up a pre-training course at your facility. Contact us for more details.

STOTT Pilates

STOTT Pilates training is offered at Gyrotonic Ann Arbor & The Movement Center through Equilibrium Studio. For information on STOTT Pilates certification please visit Equilibrium Studio where you can find the steps and requirements for certification, as well as information about registration.

For those on a tight budget there may be a few places available in host homes near the studio for $50 per night.
